I just scorched my only set of quilted maple. I had everything set just as I always do but while cooking I started smelling that smell . I shut down and got the blanket off as quick as I could but at the apex of the lower bout I have a scorch. About 3" long and full width of the side. After it cooled I clamped it to a solid form I have and scraped a bit to see if it would come off. No!!!

I seam to remember a while back that someone posed a possible cure for slight scorch stains in maple. I did a search and came up empty. Was I dreaming?

I can stain or burst but don't want to

Any help?MichaelP38788.7043518519

If Your'e lucky, You can sand it out after closing up the box. I've done that successfully a time or two.It just depends on how deep it is scorched.

Good luck      Al

no it is not going to sand out I have scraped as much as I can with out getting to thin. any thinner and I have paper . It is better but not realy good. almost like my blanket got a hot spot not burnt but discolored through

What irritates me is I was five feet away. not a total loss but it looks like I will have to stain the box.

This has not been my month Da*n

Sunburst looks good on maple. Sometimes the bear wins.

Has anyone else found hot spots using a blanket ? Sorry Michael , I don''t mean to hijack here , but think it's relevant .I am thinking of going the blanket way because of the good reports but am concerned about hot spots , particularly with the blanket next to the wood rather than steel slat

Has it ever happened to you before Michael ?
I have no answer for you mate , other than the bleedin obvious ....stain .

Regards KiwiCraig

Ther was a slat between the wood and the blanket. The wood was wraped in craft paper.
