I just slotted a f/b and noticed in final inspection that the slots are just the tiniest bit out of parallel to the edge of the board ![]() |

Don't know the answer to your question, but... You might have seen the thread I posted a while back about planing a fingerboard too thin, and WalterK offered to send me a replacement. Well, not only did he send me one, he sent me two! So, if you could use a 25.4" slotted, radiused, and tapered ebony fingerboard, let me know and I'll come drop it by your place sometime. Might as well pay it forward, right? Jay |

Larry, Mine are always off by about 1/2 mm for some reason. My taper always fixes the problem. I bet your taper will take care of the problem. Tracy |

Larry, just make sure you use the slots as the reference for the tapers and all will be just fine. Use your square at the first fret to find center and if you positive that the fret slots are parallel, than mark center using the 20th with your square, now connect the center lines and mark out your tapers from there. Should work out just fine. |

Rod, yes, the fret slots are parallel to each other...they are all off just like Tracy said...about .5mm...so, basically if my slots are "climbing" upward to the right, I sway my taper to the right at the 20th fret of the board? ![]() ![]() |
