Well I drove to Hamilton ONT. To look at some wood yesterday morning. Rain and thunderstorms all the way. Several hours later we drove home in a monsoon. Heavy rain for miles. So bad that even tractor trailers were pulling off to the side of the rode. A very anxiety inducing drive for sure. Didn't feel well after arriving home. Had something to eat. I was feeling flushed in my upper chest , neck and face along with some stomach distress. After about a half hour of this and convinced I was having a heart attack I asked my wife to take me to the hospital emergency room which is at the corner of my house. Examing nurse took my vitals and my blood pressure was 209/98. I was taken to a bed and had a EKG results were fine, bloodwork fine, chest X-Ray fine. No heart attack. After two hours of onservation bp was still 191/95. They administered bp med and anti-anxiety thru a pic in my arm. BP came done to 145/80 in 15 min. Finally DR said I could go home but to contact my DR. Diagnosis "Sttress Related Panic Attack" Today after taking BP about 4 times it is well within normal range. Have a Dr's appoint. on Fri for further eval. OK I have to go and wrap some orders. ![]() |

WOW....glad to hear is was not a heart attack. My wife had a similar episode about 8 years ago. She was later diagnosed with hypertension and was on blood pressure medication for six years. To her doctor's surprise, apparently the treatment got her regulated and she has been off the meds now for 2 years now with no high blood pressure incidents. But she takes BP readings every day and night to be sure and knows she is forever at risk of it returning. |

Thanks to all for the concern. Sometimes I think things like this are self inflicted. I used to jog/run 5 to 7 miles a day. Blood pressure was fine. I stopped due to some knee probles, retired and have gained 35 lbs. I need to get back walking or something because I really believe weight loss and excericise will help to keep BP in the noraml range. I'm taking everyone's advice and resting today. Mind wants to work but body is saying rest. ![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks again |

Don I just had a physical a week ago fri. everything was fine. No anger here either Larry. In fact thsi place relaxes me. Helps fufill my passion for beautiful woods and the amazing work I see created by my OLF bro's Abolutely awesome. Which brings up a question about a need of a permanent place for all these beautiful guitars to be placed so we can keep looking at them. Lance- Brock???? |

A very good idea Bob. A 'Showcase' would be awesome. |

Good to hear your feeling better Bob, may be it was just a bit of a wake up call telling you to get out there and take the time to smell the rosewood....oh em..roses ![]() I like your idea for a showcase, that would be a great resource, maybe broken up into styles SJ, OM, classical, Dred, Mando etc. Cheers Kim |

I can relate Bob, I have had a few anxiety related, heart racing, events a few years ago. Enough to make me go to the doctor to get it checked out. All tests seem to indicate no heart problem. I figure it was just the body telling me to pay attention. Life can sneak up on us sometimes. Anxiety can show itself in strange ways. The good thing is, your heart checked out OK. It is likely that YOU have a GOOD heart. Although any of us could have told you that. Nothing like stating the obvious. Stay well my friend! Hey great idea about the showcase! We should call it "the candy store". What do you all think? Wade |

Zootman Chill!!!!!!!!!!! As a Doc, I can say that the orders are NOT important. If you get your BP that high with stress, then you need LESS stress. Worrying about orders is not what you need to do now. If you want something to do related to guitar, then just sit down, relax and PLAY. Playing music has been shown to relax and lower your blood pressure. DOCTORS ORDERS!!!! Even if I am not your doctor. Andy |

Take Doc Andy's advice Bob. Relax and love the doing of the work, not the completion of the work..I need to take that advice myself. Hang out here and jaw with us. John |

It's amazing how many Dr.s I sell to. I tell them that building guitars must ne their form of stress relief. I would think that being a Dr. is a stressful occupation. OK Doc. I'm listening to you. ![]() Thanks so much for all the concern. Feeling pretty good today. |

Bob Ditto what everyone else has already said - Take it easy. I had been jogging to lose weight, but hurt my knee also. I learned that I need to mix-up my exercise and bought a bike and an elliptical. It's been a lot easier on my knee and I can still get a good workout. |

Yes Bob lutherie is a release for me. That is what I am doing today...building. Most days I am in the OR taking care of children. I can be stressful, but it is what I do, so I guess I am used to it. Take some deep breaths, relax and play one of those instruments you want to display. Andy |

So glad to know everything is back to somewhat normal. Please take it easy...who cares if your orders get shipped the same day! I'll wait twice as long just to get your Zoot. I'm sure everyone else feels the same. Your just too important to us to risk your health. Now, don't make me have to drive to Buffalo and force you to drink beer with me! I'll do it...you know I will!!! Stay well, Bob...we need you!!! |

Oh, that sounds scary Bob! I also enjoy walking and hiking, I think it is very relaxing and gives you a lot of energy in return. It is important to take the time to recharge the batteries; in Norway we have a saying about a lumber Jack who was so busy that he did not have time to sharpen his axe... Take some time off from your stressful job and sharpen that axe! ![]() |
