Hello all,

The Guild of American Luthiers convention will be held this year in Tacoma WA, June 21-25. There are some great presentations lined up, covering a wide selection of lutherie topics. As usual, there will also be opportunity for attendees to display their work, both for other attendees and the general public. There will be both classic guitar and electric guitar listening sessions and traffic in lutherie tools and materials. The convention features concerts in the evenings, too. But perhaps the most important thing of all is the opportunity to meet and spend time with lots of luthiers from all over the world.

For more information and for online registration information please see the GAL website and follow the convention link.

Thanks.

R.M.--Welcome to the OLF! Actually, somebody beat you to the punch, and started a GAL-Con thread earlier today! This one looks like it's going to be exceptional!

R.M., I know that you lurk around here quite a bit but it's good to see you make a post! I am planning on going to the meeting myself and I can't wait to see everyone there!

Thanks very much for the warm welcome, but unfortunately I won't be able to be very active here. Just can't find the time. I did see the thread about the convention schedule - turns out I had started to write this announcement then got called away for a while, and whne I came back to finish and post it, the schedule discussion was already up. Got to move quickly around here, eh?

Mark is correct about my lurking, but it is of a somewhat unusual form. I'll often scour the forums for info on a subject when in the process of reviewing an article submitted to American lutherie or when writing an article. There is a lot of information extant and I try to be sure to give credit where it is due.

I hope everyone can attend the GAL convention.
