Sorry Peter. I don't have any Pearl for the Rosette. When you find you need some for a fretboard or Abalone for the whole guitar, give me a call.

Or you could call Andy DePaule and then tell him to become a sponsor. That would work too.

I use straight pearl for rosettes. If you are looking for solid pearl Andy Depaul and Stew mac for ablam. both will have the round stuff.

PS I tended to start using more solid pearl

Hi John

I use straight strips of ablam for rosettes (on the rare occasions I do pearl), do you manage to get straight solid pearl to go round the rossette ?

I like the curved abalam stuff I get from Rescue Pearl. They get it from The Duke, if I understand properly.

I use both ablam or solid. The ablam goes in so easy. just bend and snap in.
the solid takes a little finiese but you can get solid pearl rosettes at http://www.luthiersupply.com/pearlrosetteinlaypage.html
I use alot of his stuff

Real shell in my opinion is the better material. But for a rosette since there will be little sanding ablam is fine. I will tell you you don't really want to use ablam for fretboard inlay if you inlay first then radius sand. Ablam is made up of thin laminated layers of shell, and sanding will often leave areas where the two seperate layers are showing or one layer so thin you see through it to the next layer. This leaves some funky looking patterns in my opinion. But for flat inlay that does not require much sanding, the stuff is great.

The cheapest scource for curved or straight ablam I have found is Allen Guitars and Rescue Pearl.

If you go with real shell, the best price and quaility is Andy DePaule by all means.MichaelP38796.4693055556

Actually ablam is being used by alot of big name artists. Dave Nichols and CF Martin the good ablam from reputable sources is fine.
The stuff on ebay is questionable. I do agree that solid shell is great if you can get it . I get my pearl from Duke or Pearl. THey do have the highest quality .Solid from andy
