Here's another little teaser of some wood I'll be parting with when the big "Inventory Reduction Sale" hits in a month or so...
This is some Nicaraguan Cocobolo.
Yep! Cocobolo.   Gorgeous stuff eh? Several sets will be available like this and better. One set looks just like MadRose...which I can't quite figure out, but it's cool. No pic of that one.

Close-up...

Thanks folks...you should see the piece that was chopped off the bottom of that board! It had a lot more figure in it.
Notice the little bit of spiderwebbing about to start at the bottom?
Well, it really came to life in the other half of that board.
I also have a board that was a flitch cut to this one, but with more figure in it on top and bottom.
That one's a keeper.

The Really Amazing thing about this wood is that it's the glassiest cocobolo I've ever seen.
Literally, it sounds like glass when tapped.
I have some ziricote and some Amazon Rosewood that are really glassy, but this easily rivals them.

Dave, it's possible that I might have a set of madrose, which would be a 4-piece back.
I have 3 sets of it and might be willing to part with one.
I'll have to post a pic of the set of coco that looks like madrose.
It has this great ink line thing in it and dark section, and the color looks nothing like typical cocobolo.
But then neither does the piece I showed above...

OH ! Almost forgot...tomorrow I cut the Honduran Rosewood backs...the sides are done and waiting.

Peter, the sale will be coming to the OLF. I'm registering as a "Sponsor" so I can get rid of a bunch of this ugly stuff.

Thanks a LOT Don! You really know how to tease a guy don't you? Next to Braz I'm a sucker for Cocco and MadRose.

That's some great looking wood Don, I'll be looking for your sale. I'm just curious, how many sets do you think you'll be selling? I'm amazed at the wood supplies some of you have. I need to have my wife visit a couple of your shops and then she would never say a word to me again!

Cheers!

John

Thanks John...
I'll be selling somewhere between 50 and 60 back and side sets, and around 30 tops, mostly redwood from my personal stash, and some cedar too.
I'm also going to be selling some ziricote headplate/fretboard/bridge blank sets. I ran into some gorgeous ziricote that was only big enough for stuff like that, and I grabbed it figuring I could do something with it.
All this is wood I'll never use because I've slowed way down on my building.
I can't see having a ton of cash tied up in it if I'll never use it.
May as well give someone else the opportunity to do something with it.
After selling all this, I'll still have enough wood to build probably 50 guitars.
Or more.
So I'm not really wiping out the inventory, you know?

I love that Monopoly line!

Hey Tim, I may post a pic of that coco that looks like Madrose tomorrow....you'll lose your mind dude!

Hey Tim....go check out the other pics I posted here.

I think there's going to be around 15 sets of cocobolo, so you'll prbably want to hold off on that...
