Hi everyone,
Just got home from Marshall's F.P. class this Sunday. Man was this a great class! Not only did we learn many different techniques of F.P. but also different filling techniques for different woods. I really enjoyed the class. The other students were also very knowledgable and helpful. Marshall has really got a handle on this. His instruction was right on. I got to meet a fellow OLF'r - Joe Volin, and other luthiers - Matt Chaffin, Craig Finnegan, and Rob Evans. All great guys. The best part was having someone with Marshall's experience watching and critiqueing your work. No book/dvd/video could ever come close.

We also had an opportunity to examine and play world class instruments made by many of the top luthiers...
Antonio Torres...Hauser...Fletta...Brune...Ramirez and more. Some instruments dated back to the 1800's!!! While we were there, Richard Brune took the time to answer questions and also show us his latest restoration arrival...a 1853 Antonio Torres (mini/parlor size) guitar believed to be one, of only two, in the world!!! It was absolutely amazing...no top bracing...not removed...never had any!!! the sides were around 30 thousandths thin!It still had a good F.P. finish on it. Richard said he was going to restore the guitar to full playable condition! I have to say this was one of the best Classes I have ever attended. Anyone thinking of attending...call Marshall now and reserve your seat...well well worth the price.

I did bring a camera with me but Marshall requested we not take photos for Insurance purposes. He did say that he was putting together an album of photos and was going to put them on a c.d. for all of us in the class. As soon as it arrives I will post some pics with his permission of course.
