Hi there, Charlie here, I was wondering if anyone would like to trade for an amp I have - I am interested in instrument tonewood and possibly tools, I also have 50 unfinished paua shells Grade A Lg sized that I bought from a guy in NZ, I actually have more but I am willing to part with up to 50.
The amplifier is a 2 piece rack mount {not in a rack - but have wings and rails 4 it} Mesa Boogie, Quad Preamp, and a Simul/295 power amp.
I have had the amp for about 5 years, I bought it for $1650 from the Boogie Shop in Vancouver. I havent really played too too it much because this one is so LOUD.
Its got 2 preamp channels footswitchable with an EQ for each channel. Its got spring reverb also.
The footswitch has the ability to switch on eq for ea channel and has two settings for each channel ch1)clean dirty ch2}lead1 and lead2, making 6 preselected setting available to the user at the switch of thier foot.
The preamp has 14 preamp tubes in it, and conjures a wide variety of sounds, from sparkling clean to to TRex to Zeppelin, to disgustingly dirty.
It has ground lift, recording outs as well and regular outputs, for studio use, effects send and return, and line/low level switch... etc.
The power amp section has 8 power tubes and 2 preamp tubes, 2 brand new pairs of matched Mesa Boogie 6L6's and 2 matched pairs of Mesa Boogie EL34's. The amplifier has two stereo channels at 100W ClassA/B per side in simul class stereo setting, which sounds awesome. In addition to the 100w a side stereo setting it has an option to switch to true class/A, the class A setting is the EL34's - this drops the power to 40W a side but sounds magnificent classic Fender, as class/A lovers can attest it is the best sound for blues jazz country and classic rock.
I just retubed the entire amp {a cost of over $200} and as soon as I did, it started to popping fuses in the A channel, revealing the need for a cap job. I pulled the back and could see that it hasnt been capped since it was new in 91 so its about due. The amp and preamp sections are in good shape, When I had the bottom off the power amp I accidentally set its front edge onto a screwdriver handle which cracked the fuse capsule, D'oh - I have ordered another one in from Qualye electronics, and in the meantime I have installed an inline fuse capsule as a temporary measure. I have experience tweaking amps and could potentially cap the amp before trade - of course this will raise the value of the trade. I would prefer to get rid of it as is and let the new owner have a set of caps put in. I will take trades for the value of $700 US, buyer pays shipping. If I were to retube the power amp I would take trade value of $950 US.
Please email me at charlespward@shaw.ca - of course potential traders within BC could potentially come and check it out if they like, I live on Vancouver Island.
Cheers
Charlie
I will post pics ut I have to dig them up first. Thanks everyone.

Love the Les Paul with the Bigsby. What year is that? I remember my good old days of playing the electric until I sold them all when I bought a house and to start building acoustics    Are you a serious player?FrankC38806.6968634259

well Im not making any money at it, but I have been playing a long time 23 years, on and off
- been wanting to build as long as I have played, but only have one electric under my belt so far.
That Les Paul was a 54 reissue - the Bigsby was optional I was happy to find one with though when I went looking. It sounded great but I got rid of it last year - sort of regret it still but them again I only ever get rid of guitars by necessity, never by choice - If I didnt need money every so often Id have every guitar I ever had! LOL
The other is my number one sweetheart, 1958 reissue custom shop authentic.
Cheers
Charlie
