I just received my SJ mold & form from John Hall at Blues Creek. Nice work & great price, Thanks John!!
Also, ordered the SJ plan from the forum Library.
My questions are, is this SJ 'modeled' from an existing guitar like a Taylor, or is it all original? What does the "SJ" signify, "Super Jumbo", "Special Jumbo", or what? Any recommendations for wood combo's? I just got a bunch of Lutz Spruce from Shane Neifer for a top, undecided about
B&S's, and neck.
Thanks,

CrowDuck

My design, Small Jumbo. nearest relation I would say is Yairi Grand Concert but the body is more curvasous like a Gibson jumbo. Depending on your taste in wood and tone, I think the best I have built from these plans was a Black Acacia with BC Sitka top. If you use my bracing patterns it is very resonate. I probably brace a bit lighter than most. Notice I do not detail the neck, or blocks. I have cought some flack for this but most luthiers already have neck designs so I let them adapt to the body.MichaelP38806.7312268519

I just received the OLF SJ mold today from Blues Creek Guitars as well. The construction is flawless. Awesome!! Thank you John!! Number two will be an SJ - need to choose the wood.

MichealP I have purchased your plans as well. Can't wait

Michael,

have you used walnut & carpathian, or walnut and adirondack?
