I ordered a mahogany OM kit from LMI, and it arrived yesterday, so I'm about to get started on serial number 1. I'm excited, but I have a busy weekend coming up, so I won't get much done right away. I need to let the idea that I'm really going to do this sink in a little before I start, anyway. I'm going to build a guitar! Woot! |

Good for you John. I sure can relate. Yesterday at 15:30, I finally strung up my very first... I still can't get over it... You will be amazed and dumbstruck when you strike those strings. Best of luck. Alain |

Woohoo John! Good for you. My first was a RW OM from LMI. You're in for a great ride. You won't forget the moment when you first bring the strings up to tension, it doesn't fall apart, and it makes music. Hope you have some books -- Cumpiano, for example -- to go with Robbie O'Brien's excellent DVD that comes with the kit. |

So have you jumped all the way in and maxed out your cards on wood for future builds? I finished two kits from Martin, a d and om from John Hall, and I am ready to jump in to my first from scratch. Lets us know how it turns out! |

I'm putting the finish on my first. No.1 never got any nitro, but it is now. I learned how to finish on numbers 2 through 5. Believe me, finishing really is, "THE SECOND HALF" of building a guitar. Good luck with your first. Hey we'll look at anything. Takes some pics and toss them up here. Go man Go! Bitten, nah, infected is a more appropriate term, and now, you are a "Carrier". |

Cool John! My first experience was with an LMI kit - A great way to learn! What Michael said about keeping a journal is spot on. I've learned so much just going back and reading my notes. Document successes AND failures, both provide opportunities to learn and make the next one better. (Don't kid yourself, there WILL be a next one! ![]() Have fun! -Mark |
