anything zootilicious --

Mahogany is plain, so spice up the guitar with a flamed Maple or Koa..

It just depends on your mood... feeling bright and splashy? Then something flamed is in order.... Dark and dangerous? Then ebony is your choice.... Got the blaa's? Then I would go with plan old EIR.

Hope this has been helpful!

I like ebony or rosewood with mahogany, but tortoise looks great too. Then again, there's always ivoroid or white plastic. Shoot...anything looks good !

I am a big fan of ebony binding. I have a set of cuban mahog from Brad
Goodman that I plan on using ebony.

Love your Avatar.

Actually I lied, Mahogany is a very nice wood. It goes with most binding-purf schemes. Here is a guitar from you know who... I believe it is mahogany.

My favorite Mahogany binding is Brazilian or snakewood.

Wes, that's nice...I never would have thought of White Oak. But why not? It looks great.
But to add another choice, Paddy, I'll say I just bought a chunk of Lacewood to make bindings to go with the mahogany I also just bought. (Terrible sentence, but a great wood-shopping spree.)

Paddy...As has been mentioned, ebony and rosewood look really good with mahogany. So does curly koa. After seeing how well Wes' white oak looks with mahogany, though, I'm thinking maybe some nice curly oak...

Satinwood,Box or Holly, David Dyke carries them all. An alternative that I like is to bind a mahogany guitar in mahogany, just rip some off the sides, really classy, just using the purfling as the contast especially if using anything other than BW. Madagascan Rosewood would be a good alternative to the other rosewoods and look just like BRW.

Paddy, just had another thought (actually had it in the middle of my Monday departmental meeting) everytime I look at one of my old mahogany Martins I think to myself "that tortoise looks nice, must try it". I know we tend to be very wood oriented here, and quite rightly so, but give tortoise a thought. David Dyke has it as well.

Bloodwood looks great with Mahogany. It's a bear to bend tight curves, but it sure looks good.

Another alternative is curly bubinga. I made a little Stella-like blues guitar a while back that was Sapele with the bubinga bindings. It looks quite pleasant to me.

Paddy,

Try the tortoise binding and back it with white. It really make the tortoise come alive (so to speak).
