Nice Guitar Harry. I have no suggestions. Wow, I couldn't imagine doing much out of the ordinary with this that wouldn't detract from the beautiful woods you've used. Straight gloss, shoot, you've done it again.

Hesh, outstanding work from Both of you and Lacey, i'm in love with the peghead inlay design, astonishing!

For the finish, to keep it natutal as can be, how about a light caramel sunburst that would just darken the edges of the top lightly and the sides and back as well?

Or something of Cognac color?

How do you like my new Avatar, generous gift of another OLFer?Serge Poirier38809.9805787037

Bravo~! Gloss only...complement the flavor, don't cover it up!

Clear gloss, maybe a hint of amber (if it's polyester/urethane) to warm it up a touch, but nothing else. Let the wood do the talking.

No, no, no no, no burst, that is very pretty just give it a clear finish all over (preferably satinny). The neck colour compliments the B&S nicely left as it is. If the B&S were darker you could get away with it. Golden rule #3 (#1 is never answer the question "Does my bum look big in this?", #2 Never tell you wife how much it cost) is never use a burst unless you want to cover up a mistake.

Hesh Beautiful work, it is really pretty.

Something Subtle (I would say that), I love the bindings as they are so something that doesn't make them pop, have a look at one of Dave Whites guitars he does in True Oil with Snakewood, shear class.

Definately no burst why would you want to paint something so beautiful.

You too, huh? Gibson comes to mind. I have a sapele OSJ that needs a hint-of-burst!

Yeah Hesh, Colin and Russell are right, if you'd like, just dye your tint very vey very lightly! or even better, let your finishing pro decide or ask him what he'd do and decide after his reply!

Hesh, Beautiful work! Nice inlay design too. I love the natural wood color myself.

Hesh,

Class looking guitar with gorgeous wood combination. Doing a burst would be like getting a time machine, having a date with Marilyn Munroe, and then discovering she's turning up in a floor length army trenchcoat and wearing a veil imho.

If it's your personal guitar then I would be sorely tempted to find a master french polisher and have it fp'd. It would look stunning and the tone would be wonderful.

Russel, I'm blushing .. I wish I could finish guitars as well as you describe. I've got miles to go in this department.

Hesh, it looks gorgeous! Tell Lacey she has done it again with the inlay.

Clear only is my vote. I would cover that koa up for any reason.

Awsome Hesh. I would clear satin or clear high gloss this one. Once finish goes on that Koa the color is going to pop so much it will make you grin from ear to ear. I like the humming bird. Inlays that inplies an image can be as striking as one that is highly detailed.

You mean wouldn't right Dave?

Hesh that is outstanding. I like everyone here would not cover that up. That wood is sooooooo nice. I personally think burst's should be saved for boring wood, not killer koa like that.

Hesh,

Please, no burst!

You did a lot more than "get by" with a little help from your friends! This will be another beauty. Have you considered stringing it up in the white? I did that after seeing a build by Cumpiano documented, gluing only the trailing edge of the bridge. It held just fine and was very easy to remove for finishing.

Great job, you and Lacey burbank38810.4352893519

I sort of agree... I wouldn't do anything to the back sides or neck,

BUT...

I would consider putting a very slight and subtle burst on the top. Maybe going to a little chestnutty color right by the edges (something that matches the koa)... something so subtle that it is barely noticable.

Tony did one like this for me (but with different colors). I thought it looked great.

I'm in favor of straight full gloss. Pick a mahogany, or maple guitar to
sunburst/color up..

Rod, thanks for chatching my mistype! I did mean I would'nt cover up that koa for anything!

Hesh

Let me get this right, you are talking about taking a Master Grade Adi Top and putting Sunburst on it

By the way that Taylor is horrible, looks like it belongs in Walmart , as you have probably detected I am not a fan of Sunburst.

Its your guitar Hesh, so have what you like on it

I'll still talk to you buddy, but I'm keeping you away from the European Spruce
