This is a guitar I started in 1999. I strung it up and never put the finish on, until today. This guitar is a gift for a gifted worship leader. She is just learning guitar, plays a mean keyboard and sings like an angel.

Bruce, unless you want to jam a break lever through your, well, unmentionables, put those handlebars back where they belong. Tremendously unsafe. If you want height, get a taller stem. Sorry, that comes from my college years of working in a bicycle co-op and helping our Asian-who-speak-very-little-English friends try not to kill themselves. Oh, by the way, great looking guitar and a wonderful gift. That one will give back to you in more ways than you can count. |

I know nothing about bikes. This $400 Italian Cycle was next door at a garage sale for $5. I aired up the tires and rode it twice, got my money's worth already. No>>>>>>> It's about the guitar guys!!!!! Not the junk in my garage..... 
Terken, my current spray booth is an illegal setup that works like a charm. An outside window to my two car garage. I toss the twenty year old TG&Y box fan in the window, turn on the two strip florescent and go for it. A buddy retired from his two Martin Kit guitars and brought me his leftovers, four cans of StewMac Nitro. Yep, this guitar is done with a spray can. Normally I thin down some McFaddens, but I was in a hurry to get this done and out the door. I have loved this guitar nude for nigh on seven years, I'm glad it's going to such a good home. This gal is brimming with potential and has a tremendous gift in her voice. Actually I'm honored to give it. |

Great looking guitar Bruce, and a wonderful gift! There is also a great opportunity to test the effects of finish, please let us know if the guitar sounds any different after she's cured and buffed. If so, what differences are you hearing? I also agree with Woolson, this gift will come back to you in many many ways. |

This guitar has a full woody sound, and it would be a shame to lose that quality. I plan on a super thin finish Lance. I french polished in two coats of Zinssers for pore fill. Got a lot but not all the pores. Then I'll drop fill the lacquer and sand back. It has about four coats and I'll lose about half that on this first sanding, knocking down the spruce fibers, the rosewood is already pretty nice due to the pumice job. I still don't like the way fp leaves nasties on the purflings and marquetry, so I'm destined to try clear epoxy fill again. My first attempt on number five went badly, but turned out eventually. Thanks for all the kind comments. I'm thinking of putting a K and K Ultra Pure in this baby for a little onboard control. You know these worship folks, they gotta plug in! |

Bruce, I'm just curious how you are going to go about the buffing process with the neck attached and the bridge glued on? Reason I ask is, I have a dred on the bench right now that I had to do a little repair on bridge area and it will need to be lacquered again. I am still puzzling out how I am going to get a good buff job around that bridge. BTW, this is a very nice thing you are doing with the gift. You will surely reap many rewards for your giving attitude! |

Bruce, you have to give Z-poxy a try, and the trick is to remove every bit of you can when wet. Lay it out, Squiggie it off, hit with some 320, repeat until all pours are filled, you can see this by holding the body at an angle in the light, it should look glassy. Usualy takes me 3 apps. Now that your pours are filled and you have burned through in many places (you will and should), take your zpoxy and dilute it 50/50 with DA. Use a clean cotton cloth, such as an old tee shirt, wet then wipe in deliberate long strokes from the top of the guitar to the bottom, try to over lap your rows, but just enough to not miss any area. After it dries, a quick swipe with 400 should be all you need, and your ready for finish. Not trying to sound like a know it all, Lord knows im not, but I had a heck of a time with epoxy filler and experienced the same problems I remember you talking about, that was until Don Williams gave me a quick lesson on how to do it and not over do it. |

Dumb way to do it for sure. IF I learn any tricks I'll let you know.
Lance, thanks for the zpoxy primer, gee, epoxy just seems like a foreign material to fine woodworking? But it must be good for MichaelP to give up the FP fill for it. I'll try it again, soon. |

Or my monitor needs calibration. Everything in the photos looks normal, but the zig-zag looks green! I used green in my scheme, but I had to make the zig-zag myself from veneers (shown below).  |
