How are you guys getting your bridge pin hole chamfers nice and smooth and round? I know that some use ball mills, maybe some use ball burrs, still others use something else.

What do yo uuse and why?Terry Stowell38819.7214236111

The type of countersink shown by Pete gives a very smooth cut. Don't buy the cheapest you can find, though, 'cause they'll only frustrate you (the voice of experience, here).

Pete,

That's about what I thought. I had a little trouble with mine, but I'm not sure if I got it new, etc. It think I used it once or twice. I put a stop collar on mine too
If your bridge has any slope to it like my parabolic bridge does this type will not find it's center in the same place as the center of your bridge pin hole. It will attempt to slide out the low end of the pin hole.
My workaround was different. I also had a parabolic bridge and using a drill press, I wound up with an oblong hole. My solution was to use an electric drill, PERPENDICULAR to the hole. Oblong problem solved.

It's been a while since I used it, but seems like I had a tearout issue, but don't remember the conditions. I think the clamping would make a lot of difference.

I have a radial drill press, I'll tilt the head so it drills perpendicular to the holes, and see what happens on the next one I do.

ANy ball mill users out there?Terry Stowell38819.7250810185
