If I have sides that are .08”, what thickness should the bindings be? Currently, they are .095, and I’ll be installing purfling that is .040. Thanks |

Doug, for what its worth, my sides are usualy around .080 and my bindings .090 or so, i almost always end up cutting through the sides into the kerfing, if that is what your wondering? Its not a biggie. Just be carefull if you glue your bindings on using CA that it doesnt run through the kerfing into the insides of your box, dont ask me how I know this

What they said. I usually bend at .085 and have my sides around .080 by the time I level them. Bindings: I like to make them thicker than most people. Around .100 for starters. I can get a better radius on my softened roll-overs when they are thicker. Yes, you will route into your linings. Thus the reason I've stopped gluing with CA. Like Lance, don't ask me how easy it is to slop a bunch of CA into a body and not have a clue until it's way too late. |

It's a personal thing, but I dislike any binding thicker than 1/16"(.062"). I often use .040"... Whatever happened to "delicate"? I see way too much 'big and bold' stuff on guitars, especially little ones, for my tastes, these days. |

I'm with Mario on this one. I usually make my sides 80-85 and my bindings 65-75. I don't like going all the way through the sides when routing for the binding. I'm sure it doesn't make any difference, just a personal preference. |

Making your bindings that thin, do you still need to pre-bend them or will they just bend as needed? Greg |
