Tasmanian Tiger Myrtle: A difficult to source tonewood.

Here is another option for your back and sides. A stunning material visually with good tonal qualities.
It responds well to bending and can produce some tight curves. The finish is excedllent with a wonderful contrast between the tiger like markings and the pink section. The images are mirrored section of boards still to be resawn into sets. I will have several of these sets available in a couple of weeks.

I'm glad someone is going to make this wood available to the U.S. market....I've got several sets, and I'm not parting with them! It's a gorgeous wood under finish. I mean Gorgeous.

Are the Tiger Myrtle B&S set available, what is the price?

I can confirm that it bends pretty easily. I've just bent some bindings from this stuff and they turned out very nicely.

Also, the pores are so small you may as well say it doesn't have any.

The Tiger myrtle is priced currently at about the same rate as Blackwood. Clearly the more striking figure the higher the grade. There is some spectacular logs that were recovered recently but they will need to resawn and carefully dried over the next 12 months. The material will react adversely with forced drying. I will be able to provide some images of the sets on offer in about two weeks when my pallet is shippede across Australia.

I really love this stuff. It's hard as heck to cut and thickness sand though! It looks like it would be really easy, but just the opposite. Wonderful wood.

So wait a year and let it just air dry in my wood storage area. I see on your sight that it will range from $135.00 - $185.00+. Can you give me some idea of the freight add coming to White Oak, Texas 75693

I am looking at both of your threads on the unseasoned Blackwood and this Tiger Myrtle, got confused, sorry, these will be cured and in B&S sets.
