The GAL is a great resource for acoustic bass stuff. One of the Big Red Books has a few articles on them, including a couple of nice plans- since they are included in the book, they are not to true size but very useful. There is a killer one by Harry Flieshman. The GAL also sells a good plan or two. You can also find a plan and some good info over on the MIMForum. |

I'd think a reliable set of plans would be the only missing piece of information. I'd want to know thicknesses of soundboards and backs, bracing schemes (and sizes), and other dimensions. Beyond that, seems like it would be just like an acoustic guitar with a l-o-n-g scale. |

Terry, I've been mulling over acoustic bass guitar ideas for a while, looking at other designs and thinking about how they work or don't work. I have a lot more research and thinking to do, but I'm planning to build my first of these sometime in the not-too-distant future. So, I can't offer you the help of someone with experience building these, but if you ever want to discuss it more, I'd love to. We could do that here or off-forum or whatever. |

Thanks guys. I am asking mostly for a friend, but I have a bass player buddy who will expect me to build him something one day, acoustic or electric |
