Just heard a local bluegrasser backed over his early 1950's Martin after being distracted by a young lady while loading up after a job. It was in a chipboard case and the neck was seriously damaged. I heard that the repair was successful, but I haven't seen it.

Back in the 60's I knew a guitar player who backed over his Rickenbacker- Same story distracted by a female- except the case took the weight of the car and there was no damage to the guitar only his pride.

If it was a bluegrasser it was probably a Dreadnaught, so wouldn't matter too much.

Colin and Russ, i dare both of you to build a Dread and put a subtle cognac burst on it with quality wood of course so you don't trash it before our eyes! Come on now, don't be afraid, dreads don't bite nor banjos!

Serge

I had a Customer who wanted one last week, I talked him into a OM though, I do own a set of forms for a Dread, I have made three but in my defense one was made of mahogany and the others walnut they sounded very nice .

The burst I couldn't do that to a nice piece of spruce, if I did do one it would be John How style with that sort of opaque finish. I've got a piece I kicked out the other day as it had a small pin knot in it, so maybe one day I'll try, mind you to be fair I don't know if I would have the skill to pull it off.
