Hesh- often when I see these posts of such beautiful guitars made by forum members, I feel like giving up on mine. Please all; many other equally fine instruments have been posted here but I feel compelled to say that this one lights my fire. And, I think the sunburst is perfect for this instrument. I hope whomever ends up with this one plays the blues- the instrument has a dark promise of resurrection about it, a potential catharsis for the player. A fine piece of work Hesh. MT |

Wow... I have to reiterate...that's one of the most gorgeous guitars I've ever seen. That is about the most amazing set of Koa I think I've ever seen. And you know what? That burst is growing on me! That story speaks volumes about Tony's committment to his customers. I see a bright future for that man's business. Not to mention a bright future for Hesh's guitar building! |

Outstanding Hesh! It makes me wish I woulda done a snakewood binding on the fretboard too! I agree with Tonys customer service. |

Hesh, That's looking real nice and I am looking forward to a report on how it sounds. Kudos to Tony for the product and the service. I sympathise with the travel "blues", having sent a few guitars to the US and followed the Fedex tracking anxiously. Mine seemed to spend a lot of time in Memphis - I always put that down to the Elvis influence |

I'm not at all a fan of sunbursts, but that guitar looks like it is on fire! That's possibly the coolest looking guitar I've ever seen. I wish I had a few grand to make it mine! |

Yeah, it's pretty good, but what have you done for us lately? Oh, alright, it's exceptionally sweet! I didn't realize, though, that it's a miniature guitar. Compared to that computer screen behind it, it must be, what, about 15" long? |
So do people still dislike sunbursts?
In a word? Yes. It's a beautiful guitar, but IMO it would still look much, much, much better done naturally. You asked... |
So do people still dislike sunbursts?
Yep I still think it ruins what could have been a spectacular guitar, the Koa is stunning, then you add snakewood bindings, the burst is just one ornamentation too many. But Heh, it's Hesh's guitar if he likes it then that's all that matters. (If it were mine I'd still strip the top and refinish it.) Colin |

Dang!! You guys are being hard on him. While I'm also not a fan of bursts on acoustics, a really good on like this one just reaches out and grabs me. I like everything about this guitar. Quality speaks for its self. Al |

Hey Hesh, Don't listen to the naysayers! That burst is really growin' on me. You're doing great work! Keep it up. Man, if a burst is what you love...keep burstin'. That Koa......dang is it nice! |
So do people still dislike sunbursts?
Can I tell you that I opened up this thread, and saw that first picture, and because I don't care too much for sun bursts, I nearly closed the thread without even scrolling down. If I had not scrolled down, I would have missed seeing one incredible set of Koa, expertly crafted, and expertly finished. I cannot think of a more beautiful Koa guitar that I have seen. I am not being a smart**s by asking: was the sunburst simply an aesthetic choice, or was there a flaw on the top that was cleverly hidden or de-emphasized by the sunburst? (I know builders that will add a sunburst "when necessary", which is why I'm asking.) Dennis |

Dang, Dang and reDang! Man, Hesh, she's just gorgeous! BTW, did you happen to be inspired by a guitar you have seen previously in my shop, namely my old IBANEZ on this pic below? both tops look almost the same but your Koa is just pure beauty! |

Hesh, Just fabulous! How much farther are you going to be able to raise the bar? When you get it strung up, let us know what you think of the sound with the anerobic braces or whatever we're calling them |

Stunning Hesh, simply stunning. The burst gently introduces that beautiful snakewood/koa combination to the eye and avoids what would otherwise be a rather stark contrast. The figure in that koa combined with Tony's finish makes the guitar look as if you could just jump in and go for a swim. Well done to the both of you, can't wait to see it all strung up and to get a sound report. Has Lacey done any of her magic on this one? Cheers Kim |

I absolutely LOVE a burst, and that's one of the nicest I've ever seen without a doubt. Beautiful craftsmanship. Inspires me, no joke. Honestly, it'll be hard to raise the bar on that one. Bill |
