What we as a group can accomplish. Together we can help a fellow OLF'er build a guitar start to finish, someone who has never cut a piece of wood in there life. Turn a pile of pieces in to a playable instrument, thats pretty amazing!

It makes me wonder what we could accomplish as a group if everybody tossed 2 or 3 bucks in a hat, and we gave that to a charity to help the Tsunami victims.

We are blessed in that we are watching this disaster on TV, and not in our own home towns. I saw a woman holding her dead baby on TV last night, made me think for a second how devastated I would be if that were me, and my child.

We have raised a little over 200.oo for the relief effort. There have been a hand full of people that have donated a rather large amount of money each to reach that 200 dollar mark. I propose every person that has 2 dollars in there pocket, go to the link at the old OLF and donate it to the relief effort. 2 bucks times the amount of folks that come here each day/week will add up FAST!

Just another poke in the ribs to give if ya can..

Thanks..
Lance

I'd love to see the number grow to over $1000 if possible.
I heard last night that the death toll when all is said and done may top 300,000 lives. That's horrific. This morning a Red Cross worker said that people have started to have limbs amputated due to infection. It makes my heart sad to hear.
Surely we can all dig a little deeper and try to help the victims and their families get through this. I'm going to, and I hope we will all try to visualize putting ourselves in their position when we consider this opportunity.

Thanks,

Don Williams

What is realy making me wonder is how all the people can come to this forum, ask questions, get great, detailed answers and help...and when the MAN who put this whole thing together asks for a small donation...only five or six people can come forth and give..."That's down right Amazing!" COME ON PEOPLE for the price of what it cost for lunch today you might be able to help save someone from getting that limb amputated. COME ON...PLEASE?...

The Giving that is happening here is so important - great good work. I
have also already donated through other channels.   The more
opportunities to help, the better.

Best to all,
Vivian

Lance, I'm really glad you are doing this. I'm a big fan of Habitat and was going to donate to my local chapter but none of the money would go to the hard hit areas. I was looking for another ave and found this one. Thanks again! Paul

Folk, think of it this way. The almighty probably wouldn't care if your tithe went straight to the needy this month instead of your chosen house of worship. And remember, all contributions made through the end of January for the disaster relief will still be tax deductible on this years (2004) income tax.

DON A - Just to let everyone know - Contributions made ON THIS SITE WILL NOT BE TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Only those made directly to A Qualified Charitable Organization are Tax Deductible. The donations made here are a "Love Offering" only. OLF is NOT a 501(c)(3) Organization or Charitable One for that matter. PLease Give...From the Heart ...But don't look for a tax deduction! (sorry)
P.S. - FOR THOSE WHO HAVE GIVEN SO FAR - THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH! AND GOD BLESS!Dave-SKG38361.5952199074

I should have clarified it. I gave my "love" gift here and to a couple of charities before the tax break was even announced. Hate that the gov had to entice people to give, but at least more people will give.

I know Don, it sort of takes the "good" part out of the deed. But hey, I think it really is a blessing that all the wonderful people here who are able to give do give. That is a heart warmer in and of itself. Then to add on the fact that some little face will benefit...wow!
