Hi all, Wondering who may be going to the Cdn Fingerstyle Guitar Festival this year - not sure if anyone from here went last year, but if you are in the area, its some pretty good fingerstylists playing each night, plus workshops and some luthiers (I count myself as one I think) showing some guitars. The festival is the weekend of July 21-23, and it is in Odessa Ontario, right off the 401 highway just west of Kingston, about 21/2 hours from either Toronto or Montreal, Only about 1.5 from Ottawa. You can google Canadian gutiar festival for all the details, camping, and performers, as well as the contest on Sunday (already full of 24 contestants - some amazing stuff to watch these guys - better yet when they hit a booth and do it right in front of you !!!) My fave, Don Ross will be there, and like I mention, a host of others. I plan to have a new 29 inch EIrw/sitka baritone, my 5th anniversary Signature multiscale in cocobolo and sitka, a cedar topped EIrw OM and a couple others - these three are in the finish booth right now. Hoping some can make it out, to check out guitars, play and chat it up, all while watching alot of great players. see you there.... ![]() |

FOr sure .. like I was mentioning, nothing like having some awesome talent show up and just sit and play guitars (like MINE !!!) right in front of you. Last year, there was Don Ross (dropped in and played for about 15 minutes), Don Alder (too many times to count), Dan Crary (saturday afternoon for about 45 minutes, for three of us - way cool), lots of unknowns (to me at the time, many have CDs out and are just starting to be recognized, like Antoine Dufour). Plus other builders to talk construction, Micheal Greenfield, Andrew White, Josh House - OLFer. Greenfield was funny, someone asked him if he could make one similar to my Dragonfly, standing about 10 feet away, (i could hear them easily) he said sure he could, but it would cost a lot MORE !!!! |
