Hi Hesh I use a Baby Bottle warmer, a lot of the guys State side use a rival Hot Pot, both are cheap and do a great job, the type of pots you have there come into there own where you want to melt the glue in the pot and use with a brush. For the bottle application they are not really neccesary or though the top one will work just fine. I buy my glue from a European supplier, but if you want hide in Quantity Mulligan and Higgins of New York have it but I think you can only buy a 50 Lb Pale, LMI's stuff is ideal and may well be the mulligan and higgins stuff. I Lik my baby bottle warmer as it is just the right size and holds temp within 2/3 Degrees, Marios tip of putting stainless steel bolts or nuts in the bottom of your bottle to act as a heat sink, and help the bottle stay subnmerged is a good one. |

Hesh I just looked up in the archives and apparently you can get one of these hotpots at Walmart for about $10. For some reason we don't have hot pots in the UK, so thats why we use baby bottle warmers, not sure what the intended purpose of a hot pot is ? but guess its something Americans do and the British don't. |

Hesh Sylvan has a page on his site showing one Hot Pot The LMI Stuff is 192G High Clarity Glue which is perfect. You just add your water to the Glue let it absorb then heat to mix, I like to let mine cool and reheat it before using, there is evidence to suggest this makes it stronger, some people make it up in batches and freeze it, I did this at first but have now taken to making it in small quantities fresh when I need it, once made I will keep in the fridge and use for up to a week, I will only reheat 5 times before I throw it. Thats just my way of doing it not to say that these are diffinative methods. |

Hesh, like others I use the Hot Pot I found on sale at Walmart. It was $12 or there about. You do need to get a thermometer as well I think I paid $6. I had a sort of group buy from M & H a few months ago and will probably do another in a few. I think Frank Ford is using M & H and that is probably what LMI stocks. Give them a call. I believe you want the 196 strength stuff. If you can't locate any let me know and I will send you some. p.s. I once bought one of those mini hot pots that someone sells just for HHG. it plugs into the wall and supposedly heats to the proper heat. Because it's so small you only make one batch/enough at one time. I don't think it gets hot enough or perhaps mine is just malfunctioning...so I wouldn't go that route. |

Hesh, I have the rival hot pot. You have to fudge around with the dial but after a little while you get the hang of it. From what I've read from Frank Ford, 145 deg. is the maximum. I try to keep mine between 140-145 deg. I spoke to Shane and he says that he carries the glue and I think Luthier Supplies also carries HHG. I tried the HHG from WoodCraft but I had alot better luck with the Mulligans. I also work under a heat lamp. Just warm the pieces a bit. I just finished my first,as you might know, and I glued braces, the scarf joint, the top and back, the kerfing, headstock veneer and even the bridge. I tend to follow the thought that HHG sounds better. Let me know if you hear a difference. I've always liked the looks of your HeshTone guitars. Clinton |

Hesh, some will advise you to mix your HHG by weight which is a good thing if you already have a scale but if you're broke like me (BRW expenses in yo case! ![]() ![]() ![]() You already guessed it, i purchase mine at Lee Valley, their info sheet says it's the 260 grams but Mario said it was more like 192 g. Mixing it almost half-half and reheating it after cooling off is a really good advice that Russ gave you! |

I'll throw in another vote for the Hot Pot, which I got at Albertson's for about $15. Martha Stewart makes a very fine thermometer as well, available at a Kmart near you. Mike |
