Today I was fooling around with this idea. I made a miniature go-bar similar to the innovation Kenny Hill (a classical builder I studied with)has done on the traditional go-bar., . He uses 1/2" copper pipe with dowels on both ends and a spring in the middle. When you clamp in the go bar deck the go-bar has a certain amount of room to travel internally until the spring bottoms out. I was thinking about how the sound posts are fit under no string tension, then when the thing is strung up you have a lot more pressure on the top and the sound posts.

I'll string it up tommorow and see if it blows up! Next weekend when I buff my guitars I will photograph them and post them if you like. If the little go bars work I'll include some picks.Tomas38875.0371875

Yep that was me. Do you see a resemblance to Kenny'S go-bars? What are you building these days?

Yeah, I remember Kenny's go-bars, and yours look very similar. There was a thread awhile back about spreaders and go-bars that showed some interesting variations, some using aluminum tubing, all thread, and wing nuts.
Lately, I'm tinkering with reso's, mostly buying broken one's and repairing them.
