I am a dufus. I bought a balance on ebay ... I should have looked at the pictures more carefully. It is in perfect working order, but it is in ounces rather than grams. Before I put this back up on ebay I was curious to see if anyone was interested in it. I will sell it for $50.

(Yes, I know you can do the conversion but I would just rather have it measure in grams -- I found another one cheap on ebay.)

I am sure... but then when they see the big stash of wood with density numbers scribbled all over it they will just shake their head and move on.

Brock,

I have looked for one on ebay, but since I know little about them, can't tell which one is junk and which one is a good deal. What did you get?

Jeff

the Ohaus's are pretty good. In truth anything decent will work for our applications.

You know you could just plot ounces vs grams in an excel graph, print and laminate the graph, and keep it near the balance. That way you just need to refer to the graph and not have to convert every time you weigh something.

Yes, I thought about that, but the stops are put in place for ounces, so the gram calculations from stop to stop will be odd numbers (not the normal 1, 10, 100, 200 etc.)

These are cheap enough and plentiful enough just to get a metric one.

I guess I will put it back on ebay. I am sure I will get what I paid for it.

Ouch, guys! From what I've heard, those Ohaus triple beams are the industry standard. $50 is cheap, and if I had 50 bucks I sure would have bought it. Drat!
