Here is a students guitar, just finished a couple weeks ago. Modifed classical shape, 5 fan bracing, slanted lower transverse bar, Hauser 2 brace sizings, no bridge plate. Back is braced in spanish cedar, top is sitka braced. Back and sides are braz rw, top is master grade euro spruce, bridge and headplate is braz, ebony board, Spanish cedar/walnut neck, walnut armrest, 3/4 per side individual Gilbert tuners, ebony dot and buttons Scales are 635 high A, 650mm low E. For a high A string, 40 lb fishing test is used ala Lenny Breau. SOunds pretty sweet, it also has a trinity classic K&K installed.

Here is the headstock, and the sideport he designed - chines symbol for humble !!! Finish is notro ont he body, and the neck is wipe on satin poly, hand rubbed.

That sure is a beautiful guitar!! Your student did a fine job! Is that fret markers at the 12th? I thought I was the only one that did that on classical!

What do you think of the hand wiped poly for the neck?

Actually not seen, but he did traditional markers down the fretboard side. The poly is very nice, I am trying a wipe on oil again to see whcih I prefer - I think the oil may look better, they feel about the same.

Thanks Tony. I've used a fair amount of the poly in my home building days on stairways. I like the stuff. I'm thinking I'll give it a try.

Beautiful guitar. Wonderful lines and the craftsmanship is outstanding. Please don't tell me this is their 1st guitar.....I can only take so much humility in one day!

It is nice, have them post and tell us about it.

Nice work Tony! I have heard of some Brazilian players using fishing string on their guitars but have never got around to testing the idea. Any thoughts on this? Do you have any name brands or diameters you could share?

The student and I built this one together, it was his first - I bent the cutaway by hand, and helped out with setting the neck - he laid out and cut all the fret slots, and did the majority of the work.

The high A is .024 40 lb test - not sure the brand, but its pretty cool when it breaks, you just grab the reel and cut off antoher one !!!! All nylon strings should come this way. Only thing, the gauge is inconsistant - the high A doesnt always intonate that well.

I saw Adam last nite at Tommy - he says he hasnt been able to put it down. BTW, Tommy was unreal. He slayed me with Nine Lb Hammer !!!!
