Hi guys, after many attempts at designing my own signature body shape I finally came to terms with myself. The Cornerstone Signature will be a Medium Jumbo (size between a SJ and a Jumbo) BUT the shape is totally diffente from any other guitar I've seen!

Anyway, the first one will be out of Bob C's Zebrawood and a lovely Lutz top.

What do you guys suggest for binding and neck woods? I can't seem to make up my mind

mahogany or maple neck?

Maple, ebony, koa.....for binding?

thanks for any input

A maple neck would probably look good with the zebra wood, but it will be harder to carve than mahogany or walnut. I like rosewood with an accent line for binding.

Mahogany for the neck, maple is a little light in color for my taste. Binding? I'm not sure with zebrawood. Maybe solid in color like EIR, but please know, my taste have always been a little diffente also

Thx,
I may have to find some zebrawood guitars online and see what kind of combinations people use...

I am leaning towards the maple neck though...

im no expert but the zebrawood sides & back would look beautiful trimmed in a dark walnut, maybe if your going with a maple neck maybe allow a maple binding to tie it all together. just my thoughts

Hi Peter, it would be better for us too if you had a pic of the wood to share, would be easier to visualize what would work with it. Just a thought!

I'm sure you will be building somethin' nice tho!

Thanks for the pics Peter, now we're talking!

Looking at them, i think you have a more choice than you might think, black, brown, EIR, ebony, walnut or even some lighter ones like maple would contrast with the darker lines in your wood, just my $0.02 cents that i just borrowed!

Matt Mustapick made this baritone in Zebrawood with bloodwood bindings:

Peter, that zebrawood is gonna look really striking! As for your neck wood, I'd suggest searching for a chunk of well-striped sapele. It's similar in color to dark mahogany, but has a golden shimmer under finish that would look mighty good with your back/side wood.

Yeah, find something that'll look good with your backside.

Uh, plain 'ol Sapele is a pretty common neck wood. Bit heavier than mahogany, but a bit stronger. Makes a great neck!

I would go for koa for the binding and mahogany for the neck. I would bind the fretboard with koa too, and maybe even the peghead. I'm sure it will look beautiful with whatever you choose!
