I'm just curious what most folks feel is the best depth for the saddle slot.
I have been routing just shy of 1/4" for a 3/8" thick bridge. What do you
all do?

Thanks,
Simon

leave about 1/8" at the bottom, and don't worry about it? Probably safe to go down to 2mm, come to think of it...what I hear most often is 2/3 below, 1/3 above the edge of the slot, although I may be making it up/misremembering it.Mattia Valente38880.7205092593

Cumpiano recommend not less than 3/16 for a 3/8 bridge. This however, does not say what the max is. At 1/4 shy you should be OK

Thanks Alain and Mattia - oddly enough, my Cumpiano and Natelson
"Guitarmaking" book had about 20 pages missing from the end section of
the book. I have been using 1/4" depth because it seemed reasonable to
me. It is nice to know I've been right for a change .

Thanks again,
Simon
