Here is the finished product. I took it to Banjo camp and got rave reviews on Craig's Sitting Bull inlay.






Here's the guitar stuff



Brazilian overlay on the armrest which matches the brazilian binding.

There was a pitch pocket on the top near the FBE that surprised me on finish sanding. So, a tatoo hide that.

Nice Koa don't you think?

Very nice .. armrest, shell purf, the koa ...I am digging all that for sure.

That banjo is just awesome John. Craigs Sitting Bull is incredible.I really like the sunburst too.Are you going to be building more banjo's now or is this just 1 for fun? Super job on the guitar too! The koa IS beautiful Indeed!

Old man...I just bought the maple rim from Stew Mac and then put some homemade maple veneer on the outside to jazz it up. I may make another, I don't know, but I did have fun learning to play it and will persue that.

John, as one banjo player to another, absolutely superb! I'd love to hear it, and I'm glad you didn't put a resonator on the back, that old open sound is really great and can sometimes be improved with a duster in the back, for that really clunky old sound. I bet you had a good time at the camp and you could at least look the part .

Oh great guitar by the way, but when it's got Kinnaird on the label that can be taken as read.

Fantastic, John. Both instruments. And here I am again, a guy who doesn't like sunbursts, thinking the back of that banjo looks really great. I'd trade you my banjo for that one in a heartbeat. That's a really beautiful instrument.

Colin, you hit pretty close to the mark. My playing at the old time music camp was feeble at best. I'm a poser, but determined to improve.

Todd, I think sunburst finishes look better on some instruments, banjos may be one of the better places for them.

Craig, I can't wait to see that back and side wood. Must get busy on the neck. The rose sounds like it will be handsome.

Billy, I have a make shift photo setup with 4 construction lights bouncing off a ceiling that slopes at 45 degrees to the subject. The ceiling is part of a knee wall in a dormer and there is plenty of light if I use a tripod and a fairly slow shutter speed.

One really strange concert I attended while at the Old Time Music camp was a banjo/accordian duet. What a hoot.
