Hey, for you guys out there using a cappucino maker as a steam source for neck removal, how do you go about making the mod to plug the water outlet to the caraffe? Or do you? This one that I got from Ebay has a separate nozzle for steam, but I still think plugging the caraffe outlet is in order....TIA. |

mine is a krups I believe, and it came with a plate to insert into the coffee holder that effectivly seels it off. You may be able to make something similiar, it is around a 32nd of an inch thick and just goes between the coffee holder and the machine. Mike |

Hey Larry, just set it to steam, and keep a round of fresh coffee grinds in the filter cup, and the caraffe below it for when you're done. <G> I've got 2 of these machines. They work okay, call me when you're ready to use it. Do you have a neck removal jig as well? |

mine has a knob which directs the flow to either the caraffe or to the steam wand. no need to do any plugging. |

I just went out and looked and there it was! A clever little knob with icons even a "jenyus" like me can follow! (Now if I can just get the nerve!!)

It's a Martin kit, 0000 style...the "bolt-on" neck was apparently glued at the tenon, tongue, and reportedly, the cheeks of the heel! |

It badly needs the neck reset...I don't think it was done properly at assembly...the guitar's only about 4 years old...I think it'll go well if I don't destroy it taking the neck off!

The cheek may be an issue. Hope they did not use epoxy. If they did steam will still work but it will take longer and you may have issues with the sides coming loose from the neck block by the time the heat finaly does it trick on the epoxy. keep lots of paper towles around to sop up the moisture inside the guitar. |

Say, now that we're on it...did you make your own steam hose and nozzle/tip, or did you buy the SMac one? |

i have used homemade ones on pressure cookers as well as tge s-m version. i recommend that you also keep a bowl of cool water and a cloth handy. you will probably need it to keep the finish from getting too hot, which can blush and discolour. |

I use a Krups as well. Mine is a very small unit and came with no provision to block the coffee side. I drilled and threaded the opening in the unused portion and screwed a bolt covered in teflon tape into the hole. Works like a charm. I've been using fuel line and a veterinary needle on my setup, but the fuel line is making me a little nervous. I need to replace it with high pressure transmission cooler line before I get a face full of steam. |

Just a big hypo needle-I suppose one from a beef injector kit might work as well. I usually take a file and break the edge of the tip so as not to poke myself. They make alot of sizes-just make sure you get one big enough to be glad you're not a cow.
I can ask my vet what size I use if you need specifics. |

Thanks Josh! I think I can come up with something with a visit to our vet...I just gave him $1200 in cat-care bills a few months back so he owes me a favor! Do you have to mount the needle in anything to fit the hose? |

The ones I get fit perfectly in the 3/8" hose-just a little hose clamp and you're ready to steam. |
