I was gonna let you rest from my progress pics because i wanted to still have a surprise effect for the end but well, i thought i'd share a couple more pics!

Here is a bit of what i've been up to lately!

Made a laminated board with Mahog', purple heart and 2 strips of some white wood i recycled, not sure if it's maple or whatever, nice grain in it tho!

That was last week, just before i left to see the in laws, i had cleaned the shop just before i left so here's a rare shot of my shop in order!

Since i got back, i cut the 15 degree angle and glued it, what a PITB to get those 2 pieces together without moving!

Then i used my drum sander to bring the headstock to thickness and made another lamination of the same stuff that i will cut in 3 sections of 4" long to build the stacked heel, the 2 veneers are purple heart that i sanded to help me see what it would look like on the headstock, i'm not decided yet if it's gonna go on there tho. I might just go with EIR as Anthony and Steve had suggested.

While the lamination was glueing, i thought i'd route out the EIR that covered my neck block in my soundbox

Finally, the stacked heel being glued

Thanks for watching!

Lookin' good Serge! Alas, I leave Sunday night for a month of airline ground school...I don't mind that, it's the no shop time that's killin' me!    If my John Hall dots get here today, I'm gonna get the Wenge OM fretted and sent off to Tony before I leave, and then when I get back I'll have it to look forward to! I wanna see your's finished too! You're certainly well on your way!

Top Job, Doing a lamintion like that on a stacked and getting it all to line up is a pretty tough job. So as our Australian Buddys would say :

Good On Ya

Looks real Pretty

Thanks Billy and Dave!

Thanks Kim, my tuners are spertzels from Shane, the silver ones

Thanks Russell, and it lines up pretty well too as you'll see here but if i were to do it again, i'd use a bigger chunk of mahog and other woods to make 2 neck blanks, i would have saved myself a lot of trouble with measuring, thicknessing, glueing and cutting But i learned a lot!

I agree about the purple heart. It's so different than what I'm used to
seeing, but I like it. I'd say you're anything but slacking with this one.

Thanks Ron and James,

purple heart was the first board i ever purchased for guitar making even if at the time i did not know if it was suitable for the craft and found out 6 months after that it was rather ignored by most, i'd be curious of what the sound might have been if i would have made a guitar with PH back and sides, i've seen one on BobC's website and it is really nice and different in terms of look but i prefer using it for appointments so far.
