Yep, being on vacation helps a bit, today i made myself a plexiglass template for the neck profile and used it on my neck blank to draw the outline, i then cut the blank on my bandsaw.









I cut the entry for the tenon on the top.



Routed the channel for the truss rod, check the set up made with boards and clamp everywhere, it worked well but i'm sure there is a simpler way of doing that, i'll probably start a thread just to see your setting up





To the left of the neck, there is a thick aluminum straight edge that i used to cut the straight channel, my router was leaning against it.



And finally, i cut the tenon with the table saw, lots of remeasuring to make sure the depths were acurate but it paid off, it went really smooth.

Thanks Jordan, yes, my bandsaw does well for lutherie things, i find it big enough, of course, i'd like bigger but the cash flow is runnin' low around here, i do recommend it to anyone who wishes to buy one though.

Thanks bud, yeah, the bible is there though i'm not following it to the iota, i must be lazy when it comes to reading books, i prefer the images! Probably has somethun' to do with time spent on College and University benches!

Larry, yes, especially the acrobatic section with the truss rod images, one could easily get hurt while twisting!

I too like the five piece neck. I optioned not to cut my tendon on the bandsaw. I couldn't get my head around the idea on how to cut it on a 5 deg so the the neck angle would be close enough to fudge with chisels and scapers. Did you just cut it on a 90 deg and add the 5 deg later?

Thanks Clinton, you probably mean 1.5 degree angle right? if so, you just have to use a protractor and draw your line on the side of the heel but for some reason, i did not have to do this, my angle is spot on 1.5 so maybe my fence was a little off and i was lucky!

Thanks Ron, PH has a great color for appointments, especially when your instrument is for a lady, in this case my Mom, she adores roses and it was the closest color i could find around here, i'm also thinking of inlaying a single rose somewhere on the guitar, either the headstock, the heelcap or maybe even on the top, i'll let the inspiration guide me. PH is a challenge to work with, it's brittle, splinty and hard to bend but when you have success with it, the rewards are great!

Serge, can you explain how I pull a picture from my "My Pictures" file and post it?

I have made a few attempts and failed. Been busy and just have not tried anymore or ask anyone.

Not shy at all, quite purdy with a nice smile! You will like my little shop, We call it the Rooster House, you will see why, if I can ever figure this posting out.

Ok Mike, here's how:

when you answer to a thread, at the bottom of the page, you have them buttons lined up right underneath FONT    SIZE    &nbs p;COLOUR

Right underneath COLOUR, the second one from the right, with a tree and a blue arrow will help you upload your picture from your computer to here, you might have to reduce your pics size, if so, reduce the OLF window, go to your pic file, right click on the one you want to transfer and open it with a photo-editor, the size i use is 500 X 333 pixels.

if that doesn't work, just send your pics to my e-mail address and i'll do it for you!
