Interlochen Center for the Arts, long known as the premier training
ground for young classical musicians, is holding it's inaugural adult
education Guitar Institute this summer from Aug 24-27, 2006.

John Wunsch is the director of this great event.

I (Up North Strings) will have an exhibit table where I will be promoting
hand made instruments. I am open
to OLF members who would like to promote their instruments at my
table. This will likely be limited to Steel string guitars since I agreed not
to compete with Armin Kelly of Guitars International.

Take a look at the program, it is awesome!!! It is really going to be a great
seminar for any guitar player and I encourage anyone to try to get up
here Aug 24 - 26.

There will be plenty fingerstyle and jazz besides classical. There is a great
presentation on Michael Hedges music. Plus Alex Degrossi!!!

The interlochen website seems to be down. We had some terrible storms
yesterday and maybe that is why.

50 year old trees down all over. This one is in Bryant park in Traverse
City.

What a generous offer Ken. I'm sure someone will take you up on it.

Hi, Ken. Thanks a lot for the heads up on this and the very kind offer. I'll think about it and may get in touch with you. If not, then I'll look into it for future years.

I went to school at Interlochen for my junior and senior years of high school, 1979-81. It's an a fantastic institution, and a place that's very dear to my heart. I was there last Oct for my 25th reunion and had a magically wonderful time.

I'm glad to hear about this Guitar Institute -- esp glad to hear it's not limited to classical guitar. Thanks again.

Great to hear from you Todd! I hope you can make it and if you do
bring a guitar. If you have something to display you can ship it to me even if
you can't be there.

Thanks again, Ken. I'd say the chances of me getting there in Aug are slim to nill, but the chances of me finishing the 2 instruments I'm working on now in time to ship you one for display are somewhat better. I'll try!

Once again, I really appreciate the offer.

Is anyone else thinking they might have something to display at my table?
It would be nice to have a showing from the OLF.

From my conversation with John Wunsch, there are only a couple venders.
Most of the emphasis will be on education. So there might be an extra
amount of attention focused on my table.

I am not thinking of charging anything for this service, if anything it will
go to the guitar institute. If something sells, then I will collect a
commission from you.

For anyone thinking along these lines it will be a good way to get some
exposure without having to be away from the shop for four days!!
