Well, anticipation is rising because we leave next Wednesday for the Montreal Show which runs Thursday - Sunday, July 6-9. Guitar Show -

This is the third of four guitars we will be exhibiting at the show. The specs are as follows:

OOO-D body style, This is an OLD set of Bob's Nicaraguan Cocobolo Rosewood that has been setting on my shelf for several years so I thought I had better use it before the termites ate it, 25.4" scale length wild black cherry neck with a Macassar Ebony 1-3/4" fingerboard, 2-1/4" bridge and headplate. Pre-retirement set of Don Williams' Western Redwood top with ebony/maple top purfling. The rosette is spalted maple that was salvaged from my firewood pile ;)   Sycamore bindings, end wedge and back strip. The side sound port is a new shape fashioned after a guitar pick. Bone nut & saddle, gold Gotoh tuners complete the package.

That is sweet. I love the way the spalted rosette looks with the top. The

I remember that top well...
When Tom Dowey and I were selling those redwood tops, that was one of our tops labelled as "B". Of all the tops we had, these had the most amazing taptone and stiffness. Cosmetically, the grain alternates between narrow to wider spacing, but the chatoyance of that wood is really cool.

BTW - I'll have a couple more of those sets at the OLF Swap Meet in July.

I agree with what Lance said about the headstock shape. This one is more Martin-esqe and is much nicer to my eye than the old one.
That's a fantastic looking guitar in all respects.
I think the only thing I had a question of "why did you do that?" about is the un-bound bottom of the fretboard.
Perhaps it would have visually detracted from the rosette? Whatever...If I had money, I'd buy it!

Hi guys, thanks for the kind words and compliments.

Yes, I have been laboring over my headstock design and the old ones, were, well a LOT less appealing. It's tuff to come up with a unique headstock shape while not infringing on other designs. I've got about 50 of these out there now so we will see how they are accepted. It's pretty hard to stray to far away from tradional and still be accepted.

Sound, well.... cedar-ish, on steroids with a nice RW coloration and quick response. But what do I know ... I only know about 6 cords and one song Back to what I do best, quietly making large piles of sawdust.
