Read em' and weep, boys. I picked up one of these beauties last night. I hit it 283 yds in the simulator with a 180 mph ball speed. Can you say sold?

Well, I've got a tee time to attend to. Wish me luck!

John those simulators are rigged!! You could have done 100 yards with a putter

Very very nice....

Now if they just made one that would hit straight I'd play again

Best wishes on the new driver, John. Remember...once that club is paid for and it sits in your bag, the other clubs have a way of talking to it and making it succumb to the level of your former performance.

It's hard to buy a game...ask me how I know!

I don't play enough anymore to drop the dollars on the new technology. Still using my 1960's Spalding Persimmon woods.

Now the first thing I want you to do, is kill all the golfers!

Well, the new club performed admirably. I had a few draws, but no slices with it, and it does provide about 20 extra yards in flight over my previous driver (another 460 big-head) as promised.

However, as JJ so wisely points out, you can't buy a better game overall. I shot a 94 and it's a pretty easy course. My cousin and golf partner for the day beat me by 2 strokes using a hand-me-down AMF set with no 4 or 8 irons, no fairway woods, and no sand wedge. What a jerk.

BTW, guys...I've made the offer for years to any serious golfing OLFers...if you ever want to travel to Warsaw, I live on one of the premier clubs in the state. I also have 2 guest rooms. You'll love this course. Just let me know.

Did any of you guys ever see that comedy skit Robin Williams did about how they invented golf.      I laughed until my sides hurt. :-)

That bit is legendary. My favorite part is when he explains why they call it a 'stroke'.

John,

Congratulations. I am just getting back into golf, but I know enough to be jealous of good clubs when I see them. Congrats on the 94, I would take that any day.

Jeff

Remember John,

Any new equipment improvements last a maximum of 3 rounds, a minimum of none! BTW, if you wanna break into the 80's, lay off the big dog a little and work with the flat stick. How many 1-putts vs. 3 putts did you have?

Cheers!

John

That's a different Watkins. A much older one, too, I might add.

Sage advice -- but -- the big dog needs to be fed and often For the occasional golfer its a huge rush to crush the ball off the tee down the middle.

Nice stick John -- I play with PING irons and love'em. PING is finally making good drivers!

Golf equipment technology has sure made huge strides in the past 20-years. The manufacturers sure have the marketing game down. I use a TaylorMade stiff shaft 360 that would be 4 year old technology. The club has been surpased by the 580, V-Steel, R5 and now the R7. If only guitar players turned over their equipment like lots of golfers turn over $2500 worth of golf clubs every couple of years....
