I am looking for some basic tutorials on CAD and how to use the programs. I have TurboCAD Deluxe v10. Does anyone know where I can find some online tutorials to bring me up to speed on the basics of using this kind of software.

Have you tried to Google Turbocad? I dont know what versiond it covered but I believe that there was a Turbocad for Dummies publish so you might Google that as wellMichaelP38905.5866087963

No ... I was looking at Amazon for a book but didn't find anything.

Brock, I've looked everywhere for a Turbocad tutorial of some sort. Please post in this thread if you do find anything. Seems like every book out there is Autocad specific. I'm not ready to shell out the big bucks for a copy of Autocad.

I'm not sure, but I seem to remember that Steve Senseney over on MIMF mentioned a Turbocad forum or discussion group of some sort; you could e-mail him or ask the same question over there. I'm a Autocad user at home and Archicad user in my regular job.

Thanks for the link Brock! That looks pretty good. What I was really looking for was a book on the subject. I'd rather have a book open on my desk where I can look up my next operation without flipping back and forth through different screens.

Can you tell, I hate computers. Don't tell my company that though, I work for HP.

Brock, I watched part of the introduction video. It looks like a good way to get an overview of available tools and features. I work with Autocad and Building systems daily. I have also trained people in my department that have never touched CAD. There are some large concepts that you need to learn so you are familiar with your environment. As far as the actual drafting tools, and how you use them to draft. It seems to differ a bit from person to person (there are usually several ways to go about tasks, and your style is developed with practice). Even how you envoke commands can differ(some people like keyed, some prefer task bar buttons, some drop downs). Again I believe thats a personal style that is developed with practice. That video system should help, and if they have a users manual(good reference) then draw draw draw.

If I can ever help you out with drawing something up (parts, guitars, templates), or even with large format plotting. Just drop me an E-mail.

P.S. I have found a Microsoft optical track ball with 4 programable buttons and wheel/button. Really can add speed to your drafting and ease up on fatigue. Everybody in my department uses them.

I agree very much with Rich. While tutorials and instruction helps there is no way to get good without practice. I have found that CAD can be a great tool to print out full scale drawings to use as paper overlay templates. So the time spent to learn can really pay off down the road. Since I am not familar with Turbocad I can't help you there but use Solidworks (3D) and Microstation (2D) often and might be able to answer some general CAD type questions. If there is anyway I can help just let me know.

Cadcourse is where I've been learning from. I'll probably buy the coursework eventually, as they are pretty decent. I also downloaded and printed the Manuals from the IMSI site.    I'm just starting with CAD but it seems like TurboCAD has a pretty good bang/buck ratio.

Brock I have turbocad v 12 i'm just got it so I cant help you out. I'm trying to learn it too. But I have noticed that the Makers sell a Training cd on their site. It's 40 bucks though. Just figured you would like to know this. It covers version 8 thru 12 The link is below.
