I'm looking for a ruler that is used to measure from a center line out to the sides. It has a zero in the middle of the rule and and counts out on both sides of the zero to 6. So you can lay out lines from a center point on a board. I dont know what they are called. If I knew what you called them I would be able to find one on the web.

Michael, I have the Incra centering rule, and love it. It has some features which I think you'd find make it more useful than the ones Woodcraft carries. I don't know how to create links in these posts, so you'll have to cut and paste this, but go to:

I second the Incra centering ruler. The tiny holes at each graduation point make it easy to mark precisely.

Another idea I really like is the centering ruler with half scale underneath. The one drawback to it is that it only goes to 1/16 inches.

I found a centering rule at a local art supply. Cost me a couple of bucks. What I like about it is it is clear plastic, so it's easier to see what it is I'm centering. Only measures to 1/16" though, but still you can get real close just eyeballing things. Graphics artists use them for layout work, I suppose.
