Hey folks, i'm almost there, been shaping the neck and the fretboard with dots and side dots, i'm sorry to say your Bear chickened out of the project of side dots that Tracy had shown here, it was really nice but i just did not have the nerves nor the eyes to achieve it so i did what most newbs did and put round dots cut from a thin maple veneer. Sorry Tracy but thanks anyway, i kept your pics in my files for when i feel more comfie about my skills to mess with something as small as a fretboard!

Ok, here's the back of the neck, i wanted to carve a volute at first but came up with this instead, your critique will be welcome on this, the holes for the tuners are drilled...

Here's the front of the neck, the dots are not glued yet, just placed to see how it would look, same for the fretboard, unglued...

drilling the holes...

dots glued in...

Now a photo essay shoot, i was just excited about how it looked, especially after putting liquid shellac on everything that i realized for the first time in 6 months the overall look of my guitar will be this, i think Mom is in for a treat!

I would have had more pics to show but some of them did not make it to my camera's memory, i'll have to take some more tomorrow, i finally started installing the frets!

Stay tuned!

Thanks Ron, we never know, you might hear it play if i complete it by that time and if we have someone there with a camera to record it!

I had put some weird looking veneers before i chose to stay with purple heart again, i'm sure glad i did, it looks way better in person than on pics, the lighting ain't that good in the shop. But you can bet i'll take her outside by a nice tree for the finale!

Thanks Todd, i must admit i changed my mind for the volute when i thought of the lamination but the way it came out with the PH at the back reminds me of a rose which my Mom adores truly!

Bob, i'll try really hard to finish my guitar during the coming week, i'll be on vacation starting at 4h00 pm Yaaaaaahoooooo! You bet i'll let you try my baby! Finished or not, i'm bringing it!

Thanks Hesh and Lacey, i just can't wait to meet you both and others, of course, the camera will be in the suitcase! For the presentation to my Mom, i thought of having someone from the family take pictures but it might not be before the fall, just before they leave for Florida(Them snowbirds(sigh)) It would also give me some time to build one for my Dad also and this he doesn't know either!
So don't worry Pal, i'll make sure to share these great moments with my OLFamily when the time comes!
