Do you guys have any advice for me? It will be bear claw sitka on EI rosewood with a Florentine cutaway. Where do you get cases? |

Steve, I do believe that Access have a SJ case in the works... If not you'll have to go with the Access 3 if your guitar has a lower bout larger than 15.75. The 3 is 16.125 in the lower bout and around 12 for the upper... I find the Access cases fatastic for the money but you have to buy a lot of 4 at a time... You can check them out here: Access Cases I hear good things about TKL and of course there's always the higher end Ameritage's and then the ultimate Calton's... TKL Cases Ameritage Cases Calton Cases Hope this helps, |

Steve the OLF SJ is a bit of an odd size. It will fit An access Small body Stage 5 case if you take the removable heal pad out. Ceder creek will make one for you as will any other custom case. |

yep Ameritage has the OLF specs and will make them available. Also Cedar creek has those specs but these are considered customs. |

Hesh, all I have is the Access 3... I really wanted the 5 but the max. width at the upper and lower bouts were about .25 to .5 inches too narrow. (My mod dread is 16.125 LB and 12.0 UB). Since I FP, I didn't want to compress the sides too and I thought it would too much of a tight fit... The Access 3 is about .5 to .75 inches wider in the bouts than the 5. Why? I wish I knew! They probably use the same shell but just add thicker padding to the 5's... Too bad... For the money, though, the 3 is a very nice case indeed. I think Taylor uses these cases now for their instruments. Cheers! |

They use a 5/8" padding with plush interior on Stage 3 cases and 1" padding with valour interior on Stage 5 cases |

I guess this is a good time to mention that Access will be changing the foam they use on both Stage 3 and Stage 5 cases They will be going to a smaller closed cell foam that can be squeezed and will return to it original shape, much like memory foam. I learned this at the NAMM Summer Session Friday. |

Hesh I just looked it over for the first time at the NAMM show this weekend. If I remember right it has a slight dome. This is a 3 ply case as apposed to the Sage 5 that is a 5 ply. but out side of that this is a great case for the price. |

Hesh, have a look here: Acces pics. The 3 is not as nice or fancy looking as the 5, but it's still a very handsome case for the money... |

Hmmm, I have read all the responses and I'm not sure of anything. ![]() Is there a case that will work with the OLF SJ? |

Both Heritage and Cedar Creek will custom pad a suitable case for you if you fill out their spec sheet and send them a tracing. I use Cedar Creek and have been very satisfied with the results. The spec sheet is downloadable at the site and it takes 8 weeks. I get the 600 series and if you tell them you are a luthier you will get a break. They even have what they call the builder series but it's not as nice as the 600 series. If you order 4 cases you will get a bigger break. I can't tell you what the prices are but they are definately in the reasonable range. It's simple really, just call'm up, they're nice folks. |

Ameritage, Cedar Creek, Calton all have the specs for it. Of course these would be customs. I will be receiving the build #2 OLF SJ case from Ameritage the middle of next month. It is built explicit for The OLF SJ. Hesh said the Access Stage 5 Small body is too shallow but it has worked for me if I remove the removable back pad back pad and the removable heel support. It is a bit of a tight squeeze because you have to squeeze the lower and upper bout about 1/4" to the side but after you do it fits pretty well. However you can't build over 4 1/2" deep at the lower bout at all. So the answer is I do not believe there is a Stock case the perfectly fits the OLF SJ but cases that will are available. |
