Todd--I generally go with five coats with an extra swipe or two on areas prone to sandthru. This is after applying the color as a solution of powdered aniline/alcohol with a touch of lacquer added for stability. Nelson |

I apply about three coats of clear before I start sanding. But I don't sand very long at this point; just enough to get some leveling action going. After three more clear coats I get more serious about the sanding. |
