I only got to spend 3 hours on the floor at the Convention Center at Austin and an hour at Jimmy Vaughn's show Friday evening. I was very disappointed in his show. I don't normally knock anyone's performance because I have been there but frankly, it was not his best. The exhibitions were great. made a few contacts and played many great guitars. I spoke for about five min. with Mr. Martin himself also Bob Taylor. The news on Keith Rampy of Access is that he is in line for a transplant soon. Access is changing the foam in the Stage 5 to a more closed cell foam that will not mash. They should be out by November. I spent an hour at the Gibson site. Not on their acoustics but on some sweet solid body electrics. I wish I could have spent more time there but only had Friday afternoon.MichaelP38915.5100231481

Thanks, Michael. I'd forgotten that NAMM was underway. It's always fun to hear about the new products and instruments coming out. Both Martin and Taylor (sounds like a comedy team!) seem like pretty down-to-earth guys, and they LOVE guitars.

I played one of Rick Cook's Aspen series hollow body guitars while at NAMM. Man what a guitar sweet sound, Spruce top, Walnut back, sides and neck, Rio Grande and Texas BBQ Humbuckers with three way switch super guitar. It did the jazz sound with flying colors and cranks serious rock as well. I was quit impressed for 2K

By the way his sight is RCdesignguitars MichaelP38915.6908101852

Interesting, and, indeed, new to me. Looks like he's starting small and working his way up.
