Does anyone have the math formula for fret locations on any given scale length. I've got it in a book at home, but I don't have it right now.

Assuming you want 12 frets per octave, then you take the scale length, say 25.4, divide by the 12th root of 2, which is 1.059....(dont have my calc handy for 6 decimals), subtract the answer from 25.4, and thats your distance to the first fret from the nut. Take the original first answer and divide again, repeat ...

Try THIS     It is an online fret calculator.

There is also Wfret, a fret calc for windows (when dos was still around I think) and you can print off the scale and glue it to the fret board and cut right on the lines, it's that accurate. I think Todd mentioned this a while ago when he made his own slotting templates. Bruce did it as well.

WFRET is really simple to use to make your own templates and in both Imperial or Metric! Great tool!
