The plans I am using call for an action of 5/32 or 4mm at the 12th fret. This seems extrememly high for me and I am shooting for an action of about 2mm. Does this seem about right for those who build and play ukes?

When I made mine ( a Tenor) I set it at 2.5 mm. I am not sure where it is now, but as I recall this was not problem.

Depends on how vigorously you strum it! I can see how some folks might need a higher action.

I like mine at about .100 to .125 inches where the neck meets the body.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that David Hurd sets his at about 3/32 or .90 inches.
