Greetings folks!
We are thrilled to announce a new member to our very impressive family of sponsors!

We are pleased to welcome Luthiers Mercantile International to the OLF!

Most of us are well acquainted with LMI as a one-stop shop for guitar builders with great customer service and a huge assortment of tonewoods, parts, tools, books and plans -but you may not be aware of the variety of other ways in which LMI helps the luthier community:

*Generous support of the Guild of American Luthiers (GAL) and ASIA (Association of Stringed Instrument Artisans).
*A scholarship program for high school students who build a guitar for their senior project.
*A 10% discount for students enrolled in a guitar building school.
*Support for forums (such as the OLF) with links from their site (as well as links to schools and luthier's clubs).
*They put on the Healdsburg Guitar Festival which provides a marketplace for the numerous luthiers who participate and promotes handmade guitars in general.

Check out LMI's new Kit Wizard at www.lmii.com. Now you can order a guitar kit with the freedom to change, add or delete items in just about any way you wish, taking full advantage of LMI's vast inventory. The Kit Wizard plugs in the corresponding kit discount as you proceed. Even if you do not wish to build a kit, you can use it to order most of the items for an instrument at a discounted price!

Please join us in welcoming LMI to our family!

Hey, that's great news Lance and congratulations on snagging the other one! I buy a fair bit from LMI their service to us on the other side of the pond is incredible, I usually get my stuff from them faster than from guys 20 miles away. And their customer service is exemplary when the delivery guys drop a package! Is it beneficial to the OLF for us to get to their site via the forum?

Oh and welcome LMI to the best forum on the web, and do please join in here as well.

Colin

Don,
Thanks for the 'shout out' but I have to say that LMI is very much a team effort -and at this time, a really great team!

Everyone,
We're very glad to be here. Sorry we couldn't have joined in earlier but we've been busy working on our Kit Wizard and a very cool new catalog. If you want to get one as soon as possible, send us an email (service@lmii.com)and we will mail one out as soon as they get in from the printers (in a week or two). Include your name and address.

See you on the forum!
Chris -LMI

A couple of LMI guys in their habitat. These guys are regular folk too. One of my favorite areas of LMI was the rack by the shipping door. Chris can get on that computer and fill up a tonewood box in a hurry. I never saw inverted peanut pyramids hanging from the ceiling like that. I just wonder how they fill them? Thanks LMI for all you do for the luthier community!

Hey... Another Ohioan... !!!

Also...

Welcome too to LMI. Like Hesh, LMI has always been very generous to me and I severely lust after that special grade of madrose (get more please.... Grab your flak jacket and your chainsaw...    )

We are very glad to have you aboard.

About 3 years ago I contacted Chris and asked for a very special set of Cocobolo to build a commissioned guitar with. I gave him the very demanding specs of what my client needed, with in a week he had 2 sets for me. Below is the guitar for which the wood was used.

The great thing about this wood is that one set sold the other. I have a new client that liked that guitar so much that he has ordered almost a duplicate of it, LS top and all! Im gald I grabed both sets from LMI when I had the chance!

And here is Chris once again, working at the LMI table at the ASIA symposium last year.

Chris - saw that your highest grade of quilted sapele was unavailable for a while and now it's listed as in stock again. New shipment? Same quality as the older stuff?

Thanks,
Andrew
