Hey thanks everyone. I've been sawing and sanding away. Cut a Dozen sets today and got the pics for five sets up on the page. K&K Sound makes a great sounding pickup system, from the simple transducers on the bridgeplate, to the Trinity with the additional onboard microphone and dual channel preamp. Yes, I suppose I should pencil a multi-set discount. |

I'm going to have to try some of that Sapele. Now it makes me think I shouldn't hoard all the cherry back and side sets and neck blanks I've got drying. |

Thanks Brian, Yeah, I'd like to talk bandsaw guides sometime. New thread? Also Photographing the Zoot, another thread. Just general stuff like that. Zootdealing is nothing but sweat and sawdust! P. S. I learned how to coil a 150 inch bandsaw blade 1 1/4 inch in my sleep. Of course I've been nursing three sore fingertips for a week, those babies will rip ya. |

Yeah, I learned the hard way that a set of leather gloves need to be kept close by when resawing, send me an email and I can give you some time saving tips on this side of things. |

Good luck on your new business. I am curious about one thing. LMI sells their sapele for $30 whereas yours is $99. I'm assuming that yours has unusual figure or some other distinguishing characteristic that makes it more valuable. Your website doesn't elaborate on what is special about your wood. Without some explanation, your wood just looks expensive. |

Mike, The pictures tell us all we need to know. The sapele that Bruce is selling is extremely figured. The sapele thats 30.00 from LMI is not. |

That was my guess. I'd encourage Bruce to hype that aspect of his wood a bit more. All that is needed is a sentence like "Sapele ranges from straight grained with no figure to Wow! This wodd is in the Wow! catagory". Alas, LMI doesn't have good (any?) pictures of their wood so we can't see the difference. LMI also doesn't offer a high figured option for sapele like the do for other woods. |

Thanks Mike, good point. I looked at some Mahogany Beeswing LMI is selling. Take a look at that, they are selling it for $138 a set. This Sapele Pomele is figured much better than the one they show. Sapele and Mahogany are very similarly priced woods, ten bucks a set difference. The zoot factor is what's special about this Sapele, so I'll do a little comparison for folks, great suggestion. I have six sets of Sapele on my shelf from LMI, plain ribbon, but great wood. I'd trade all six for a couple sets of this Pomele figure stuff. |
