I think in every picture I've seen of Serge, he's playing a different guitar! The smile says it all.

And let me tell you that every single guitar i tried had a really sweet sound to my furry ears, that smile on the first pic and the concentration on the second one shows how i felt like being on a musical cloud throughout the whole week end, i'm saving more thoughts for tonight, after work, will be giving my full appreciation of this magical and wonderful event...to be continued!

Hesh and I arrived home safe and sound yesterday afternoon. We brought back much more than we took. We returned with unforgettable memories and a much larger circle of new family members. Thank you so much to Bob, Rose, Bob Jr. and Connie for opening your home to us all.

For those unfortunate enough to not be able to attend this gathering, close your eyes for a moment and think of rows of guitar cases lined up on the grass. Each case opened up to another exquisite guitar being passed around and played. The beauty and craftmanship of each and every one just blew you away...many different models, finishes, inlays and styles.

What amazed me more than anything else was the number of true artists gathered together freely sharing their methods and ideas. As someone who had dabbled in the arts most of her life, I found this rare and refreshing. Smiles and hugs were the theme of the day and the look on Serge's face as we handed over ownership of #9 was PRICELESS!!! I know it is something I will never forget.

To our new circle of family....thank you!

Thanks for posting the awesome pics, Bob, and for your very kind words as well.

Where can I start? How can I even adequately express my feelings of gratitude?

What a week-end! It flew by so fast that I can hardly believe it happened at all.

I was reading Hesh's Rich's, Anthony's, Tony's and Lacey's comments on the gathering and I think they had it dead-on... It felt more like an awesome family gathering than anything else... I enjoyed each and everyones company immensely...

All those awesome guitars in one place, the wonderful people, the food, the ambiance. Everything came together to make something truely magical.

Rich's rendition of Rocky Racoon was awesome as was J.J's Bob Dylan's 'It's all right, don't think twice'...

Also, if Tony Karol wasn't building world class guitars, he could certainly be a world class entertainer. This guy has Monster Chops!!!   He played us some Don Ross, some Eric Johnson etc... etc... Very cool stuff...

And then there's Hesh and Lacey's t-shirts (brilliant) and the awesome guitars and the beautiful gift to Serge... Well that just elevated everything to a surreal plane... Thanks guys.

A very special thanks to the Cefalu clan.   You made us all feel as if we were part of your family. Thank you all very much.

I'm looking forward to seeing all of you again!

Al

Bob,

Is it a done-deal to have another gathering next summer? If so, maybe you could come up with a suggested date early, so everyone could make long-term plans. In any case, you were sure generous to folks this year!

DAY ONE

Some of you will remember that i could not sleep last friday, early morning, i had the stomach all twisted just by being excited to go at Bob's gathering and to be so close to finally meet my OLF bros and sisters, excited, knowing in advance that it was going to be a great event, that i'd, shake my friends hands, hug them, hear their voices, play guitar and sing with them, have guitar discussions and have them evaluate my latest effort...

On the way to Bob's, me and my bud Alain were so anxious, we were already in a surreal cloud of happiness but were really tired on arrival that we had to rest for a couple of hours before we met Bob and his Very fine Lady Rosie and our great JJ Donohue, The hand shaking and the hugs started right away as if we had known everyone there for 25 years but it was just 7 months ago that me and Al joined in the fun....

Me, Alain, Bob and JJ met in JJ's room and went to our room to show them our instruments here is JJ trying Alain's first effort, look at that smile!

Bob, trying out my latest!

We then were introduced Bob's wife Rosie in the hallway and then we and all went for dinner at a very nice restaurant for a copius meal where we ate untill our bellies exploded and talked... guess what? No, no, just seafood! Of course guitars also! Yo can see the pics of this in the OFF topic section and on Bob's great website!

After dinner, we went to Bob's cottage and played guitars all together while Mom(Rosie) was watching her big kids having fun, playing and again... talking guitars!

End of day one, me and Alain and JJ wwill get back to the Motel in JJ's beautiful vehicule and upon arrival in our room, me and Alain were thinking the same thing: Are these people ever nice or what! We were thinking the same thing, that just that first night with Bob, Rosie and JJ was worth the trip just by itself and we then thought Man, what will it be tomorrow when the happy bunch will get here!

DAY 2

We wake up early morning to join our friends for a good breakfast in the Motel's restaurant and then went back to Bob's cottage to help prepare the place for Bob's guests, Bob was cleaning the pool and JJ was helping him, Bob than handed me the beautiful redwood top i had won at the Auction and gave me some gorgeous snakewood bindings!!!!! I'll post pics of the whole zoot goodies later on!

Then, the guests started arriving one by one or in groups and the fun lasted all day untill 4h00 am for me and Alain, Here are a couple more pics of that great day and most of you guys missed, a family gathering of the finest people there is!

Tony Karol playing a very beautiful piece!

Tony tuning up my guitar while Alain is watching

My bud Anthony trying Tony's gorgeous guitar

Our friends Hesh and Lacey when they arrived

Tony playing what's gonna become my wonderful gift...and Man, can he play!

Ain't this gorgeous or what?

Gotta stop here for now for dial up resons but will start another thread where i'll share more thoughts!

Carlton
Next year is a done deal as far as I'm concerned. Not sure as to location as there was some talk about a change of location or maybe some sort of rotation. As long as we have that place everyone is welcome. I would suggest planning something next January.
