Folks,

Just want to give credit were due. I, like so many others, ordered some of the opportunity grade EIR sets a while back from Allied Luthiers and my order finally got here today (yes, it really does take that long to get surface mail to Australia ).

I must say that this stuff is great value for the money, especially for us noobs. As noobs, we really need affordable sets, cheap enough that they do not intimidate and stifle experimentation.

At the same time, we need sets that have the quality to inspire and, if indeed we happen to get lucky with our design, will prove worthy of the effort.

This stuff fits the bill nicely. To top it off, the crew at Allied do what they can to keep the customer happy with regards to shipping etc.

Yep, I ordered some last year and now have two ukes in the works from it. For a newbie it's a great value.

I'm biulding a prototype of an L-00 style from it currently. Some of the sets I got were very nice looking sets, others were so so....

Got a stash of that Opp grade EIR a while back and its good stuff. A few of
the backs have the odd pin hole but they are peripheral and easily worked
around. Also recently got in some slightly water stained Sitka spruce from
Dave Freeman at Timeless instruments.

Ouch! only 4 points buddy, but they were indeed the four that retained the Bledisloe for NZ. But then, I hail from WA remember, that is the home of THE Western Force. That is the team you will remember whom managed to complete their fist season of competition without a single blemish of victory to stain their score card. No Martin, it is in fact a Kiwi. That look upon his face would be self explanatory if I was able to fit the sheep at the lower half of the image into the frame

I was lucky enough to get a few sets of that opportunity grade EIR also from Allied. They are a great bunch to work with and the wood is even better than I expected. Price was the best part of all.

But to be fair, a first grade set of EIR I got from LMI is truly beautiful. They're a great bunch of people also!

I've got 10 sets still in the box in my closet...I didn't even open it cause the first batch was so perfect for my needs, I trust them completely! Can't wait to bend it!
