For those who are fanatics about flat, polished, super-honed edges on their tools-an affordable diamond paste source- MTI Corp. google them- 10 gram syringes in all grits for $15. This is far and away the best price I have seen anywhere. It makes it possible to more densely embed the cutting paste in your choice of mediums.(Many use 8"x3"x3/4" hard maple as a "stone" with diamond paste-some MDF). I'm going to experiment on the stropping wheel of my Tormek with 2.5 micron. Since the leather medium is soft, quite a bit of the paste will embed before maintaining a densely packed medium. It should give a very fine polish on backs,micro-bevels and gouges on the shaped Tormek strop wheels. I was going to PM Todd Stock on this but he doesn't show a PM address. He has mentioned his satisfaction with diamond paste in the past and posted recently on the other forum-you know the one -I do still look there but rarely post.Always on cat feet. MT

Poor Kitty! Bet the cat doesn't like that!

Funny, on the other forum one is forbidden to mention price. On the OLF, nobody wants to mention the other forum!

Hush guys, Swanson is going to start taking names again

Anyways, how exactly do you use this diamond paste? Just put some on a maple block and hone away? Wouldn't it be better to use glass or another hard flat surface?

Wood and MDF work better- on glass the paste just kind of slides around for a fair amount of time. Ultimately it would probably embed and then cut. On the recommended mediums it embeds quickly in use leaving a microscopic portion above the medium which does the cutting. One nice thing about this MTI-it is oil or water soluble.MTMiketobey38933.3302430556

I'm wondering about the safety of using diamond paste on a wheel. Any danger of getting some fly-off in your eyes? Should goggles be mandatory?
