I hope Lance doesn't mind this but...

Don't kid yourself, most of China is very third world! A friend of mine, went to China to marry a girl he met on the internet, and he said it was real bad. Not what you would think. The price of rabies vaccines is, substantial, for many parts of the country.

I was extremely appalled myself, but it is disturbingly reasonable, considering, as I believe, they had three cases of rabies and if you knew anything of the symptoms, you would understand, it.... ain't.... pretty!

Communism, has not been good to China! I would definitely lodge complaints to the consulates as their government is very sensitive to these things.

It gives one an excellent perspective on the disparities of economic standard and susceptibility to limited remedials. It's very disturbing!

In much of Europe, cutting puppies tails is a crime.

Don't tell 'em I cut off six over two weeks ago.

We had a coon act really sick a few months back on our deck. The Pound came and took it away. We complained it might be rabid. The lady laughed, "We don't have rabies in this part of the country."

When I was a kid, we had a neighbors dog foaming at the mouth then it died. Rabies. It's not pretty dying of rabies. Can't imagine a human dying of it, that would be gruesome.

I read the same story, and had mixed emotions. But if I had to make a choice over my pets or my kids.... hand me a club.

The point is, China is extremely poor. How humane can you get! In a country if you recieve the death penalty they charge the family .05 cents for the bullet. That's true!

If it was a choice of dying of rabies or the club I'd take the club myself! China's economy is a still a shambles!

Travelling inland from Macau to Quangzhou, I saw families living in slab lean-tos with tar-paper roofs. Po' is the word. Great food at the resort though, best meal on my trip.

I'm tempted to talk about how China treats her people and all the human rights violation committed by there, and by making a comparison to that, the treatment of these dog is not what we should be outraged by. But that might violate the rules of the forum, and I don't want to do that.

Rabies is serious problem, I don't agree with their method of dealing with it. I am glad that they understand how serious the problem is. Rabies is a terrible disease.

If you boycott their goods, will you hurt the people that made this decision or the poor working people that had nothing to do with it?
Cutting a dogs tail off is a crime. PERIOD!!!!!!
To leave a tail on a working dog, like an Australian Shepherd should be a crime. For a working dog, if you leave the tail on, they will step on their tail when backing up and trip. This often will get them trampled by a very heavy animal.SteveS38936.9449768519

Not in Arkansas.

They don't seem to notice. And... it's appropriate for the breed. These are hunting dogs.

Welcome Bill, we are passionate about our dogs and our guitars around here. But we are pleased to hear your side too.

I used to smoke cigarettes. For some reason I quit. Reformed smokers are outspoken critics because they've been there. Recently our Governor got a law passed banning smoking in all restaurants in the state. Makes me happy. Makes smokers mad. But they'll get over it in a few years. Lots of issues and they should be discussed. I love forums for this very reason.
