Hey Rod,
I'm going to try your most excellent method of making a Florentine cutaway in my recently started SJ OLF guitar. It is sitka on EI rosewood with bubinga bindings.
Any last minute pointers for me?
For those that missed it, here is his method.

Should I post pictures of my attempt?

Cool Steve, we will all be waiting in anticipation. I would say two things, make sure that you try and line up the grain lines as best as possible.

And second is make sure you bend the cutaway piece the correct way, otherwise it will be backwards.

Other than that, think it through many many times before your cut the side.

Also, I bend the entire side before I cut the cutaway part off, than bent it backwards in my cutaway bender.
This will help too I think.

Here is the bender.

As you can see I use a heat gun for the heat source, this thing works great, do the binding at the same time.

Thanks Joe.

J, the white is just aluminum flashing I used for the slats.
