I am planning on being in Newport tomorrow and Saturday. I know that some OLFers are showing. Is anyone else going who isn't showing? It would be neat to meet as many of you as possible.

I'm hoping to get there on Saturday. I was going to go to a bunch of the classes tomorrow, but I cn't escape work. So I'll go down on Saturday. I'll probably be wearing my black OLF t-shirt, so if you spot one, it could be me.

Hey Don, look out for Mike Collins, a fellow upstate New York luthier. He makes (mostly) classicals. I just visited him last week while visiting my family in the Adirondacks. He's a heck of a great guy. He'll be looking out for you

I played a Collins steel string Brazillian RW. WOW! Great sound, great player. He'll likely have it with him.

This is Mike Collins below, playing his BRZ RW guitar....

Hey Terry, I know Mike! I sold him some beautiful Imbuia a month or so ago. Very nice guy. I can't wait to meet him...and several others who will be there from here and elsewhere.

Hey Don,

I handled that wood. Didn't know it came from you!

Rod, you are too funny! You know they wouldn't let me ON the plane! Had to drive the wholw way! But I love the Adirondacks. Got some great times there. We'd like to move back up there and build on our 30 acres.

BTW that guitar Mike's holding is same size as his classicals. (not sure what size) It's a 12 fretter. GREAT sound too!

Not building yet, I usually wait till November when the painting biz slows down. I have a very special project to do...more later

Figures! I won't be able to make it today, as much as I want to. Bummer.

Today was good here, tomorrow should be pretty awesome too. I would post some pictures, but I accidentally left my camera in the meeting room after Kevin Ryan's talk. I'll give a more detailed report on Monday.

Tom, I wish I knew earlier that you'd be here.

Joe,
I'll be hanging out mostly with Matt Gage and Steve Spodaryk, alhough I'll try to hang with Brent McELroy and Mike Doolin a bit as well. Dang, there's some great people showing here. I'll probably be there by noon or so, since I have to go in to work for a little bit in the morning. I work on the island anyway...so it's convenient to do that...and I make some extra cash!
